Barbara Masekela
Board Member
Anti-apartheid stalwart and sister of legendary musician Hugh, Masekela is a long-serving African National Congress (ANC) activist, cultural worker and diplomat. During her 27 years in exile, she aided the ANC in Zambia, Ghana, Britain and the United States of America (USA). She worked as Nelson Mandela’s Chief of Staff before serving as South Africa’s Ambassador to United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), France and USA. She has also held various positions on several boards.
Masekela has received a prestigious Order of Luthuli – Supreme Counsellor in Silver for her anti-apartheid work.
