Vrygrond is a multi-cultural community where the vast majority of its members are unemployed and living in slum conditions. And yet, far from being a place of no hope, it is the home ground of Where Rainbows Meet, the amazing NGO doing transformative work in the Vrygrond community. A sanctuary for battered women, troubled teenagers, unemployed older citizens and feeds over 200 hungry people every day.
Street Talk is once again teaming up with our partner organisation STEPS, alongside Where Rainbows Meet, on a project that shines light on the more uplifting aspects of Vrygrond. We’ll be profiling four inspiring stories from the community, these will include: a dance group, a gardening project, a sewing course and a soccer team. Watch this space as we’ll be revealing more details on this exciting project in the weeks to come.
