At Street Talk TV, we’ve brought you documentaries about social change and hot topics. From gangsterism to the state of the nation, it’s safe to say that we’re not afraid of the nitty-gritty realism that is living in South Africa. This year, we’re mixing things up a little.

They say change is just as good as a holiday, and we’re here to say, “why not?”. Our team is very excited to look at the positive stories surrounding South Africa and to bring a little happiness to your screens. Don’t worry, we still will be covering our usual hard-hitting content but we’re also exploring the good that people do in our communities.

By capturing the social changes happening in different communities, our aim is to still give a voice to stories that wouldn’t otherwise be shared. These are the people who are coming together to organise sports events for the kids to stay off the streets or the parents who are trying to shut down shebeens that cause chaos. In other words, we’re looking at the people who are doing their best to bring out the best in the community – they are the game-changers.

Most recently, we’ve kicked off the year speaking to a few organisations and spent hours brainstorming different story ideas. So far, we’ve spoken to the team at Ikamva Labantwana and the organisers of No More Bare Feet. The hope here is to bring our viewers something to smile about in between our topics surrounding South African realities.

Have a story you’d like to share? Join the conversation! We’re always looking to speak to inspiring groups of people who are making waves in their community. Click here to submit your story and one of our team members will be in touch.
