“….when things break down the first thing they’re always gonna say is ‘foreigner’…it’s the easiest thing to point out. If you get in an argument with somebody at a bar or anywhere, the first thing they’re going to point out is that you’re a foreigner you don’t know what’s going on….so it’s the simplest thing that somebody can say as to why you don’t understand or why they don’t like you…and that happens anywhere and its not just a South African thing”

“….I don’t have a problem with somebody calling me an immigrant….but when they call me a foreigner….that word foreigner, it comes loaded…. because a foreigner is someone who is foreign, you’re not from Africa….but I am from Africa and I am in Africa”

Each year, South Africa plays host to many tourists and immigrants. We wanted a first hand account of their experiences, so we gathered a group 6 recent, and not so recent immigrants who call South Africa home. They compare notes on the pros and cons of living in our Rainbow Nation.
