Season 13, Episode 3
‘There’s no way a human being can sit without water for 7 days’, says Xoliswa Pisani from Pearston in the Eastern Cape. Water pumps do not work without electricity, and in this area it is not only Eskom who creates an uninhabitable environment. Years of extreme local municipal power failures (8 hours a day, or lasting several days) have led to the complete breakdown of water supply in some areas. Jimmy, Ambrose, Xoliswa Chantel, Babes, and Yvonne tell of living in a State of Disaster. A peaceful community protest, and a well-researched petition with solutions were presented to the Blue Crane Route Municipality. Will their cry for help fall on deaf ears? (Filmed February 2023)
