This week, we will be introducing a 30-minute documentary – ‘Shane’, a portrait of the brilliantly articulate, funny, sensitive, defiant, complex, courageous, provocative, irrational, flamboyant, conflicted, HIV positive, young, gay, mixed race township personality – Shane St Claire.

Co-directed by Richard Mills and Thembela Dick, the documentary boasts a unique approach to story telling; told in a David Hockney-esque collage, where a multitude of clips sees Shane recount the story of his life to camera. Complex, intriguing, surprising, hilarious and highly emotive; it will leave you deeply moved and marveling at how Shane has managed to overcome enormous obstacles while living life on his own terms.

A premiere screening will take place this Wednesday, 24th June in central Cape Town’s Gardens district to launch this challenging and controversial documentary.

Its television premiere is Thursday, 25 June at 19:30 on Cape Town TV. Cape Town TV is available on DSTV channel 263, or free-to-air channels 32 and 67.
