In the heart of Khayelitsha Mhla had a vision: How to change the thinking of the youth from ” I can’t” to ” I can ” From this epiphany came the Thokozani Brothers Choir.
The young singers all come from the local neighborhood, and within two years they have become famous, touring all over South Africa, winning prizes and going on two overseas tours of Europe. But Mhla didn’t stop there: collaborating with his wife Sisi they hold group discussions in which they youth unburden themselves of the problems they face in the family, school and on the street.
Things they can’t discuss with their parents or teachers.
